Roma, 10 giugno 2012 Messaggio ai partecipanti al Simposio di Atene Per il tramite della Prof.ssa Vasiliki Bafataki, Segretario Generale del Premio Internazionale “Giuseppe Sciacca”, rivolgo il mio più cordiale saluto agli organizzatori e ai partecipanti al grande evento culturale che sta avendo luogo nella nobile Città di Atene ad opera dell’Associazione per l’Amicizia tra le Nazioni. Le tematiche e le finalità che stanno alla base di un tale straordinario Simposio compendiano emblematicamente i tratti essenziali di ciò che dovrebbe facilitare il mutuo sostegno dei popoli nell’edificazione di una società orientata al bene comune: trarre dall’insegnamento della storia, dell’arte e della cultura quei punti di forza che convergano nella realizzazione di una convivenza pacifica estesa in ambito universale. Il Premio Internazionale “Giuseppe Sciacca” ha inteso patrocinare tale evento nella convinzione che l’arte, la musica, le tradizioni popolari e il volontariato – se animati da sani propositi – costituiscono dei veicoli preferenziali nel traghettare idee positive che realizzino ponti di autentica condivisione e amicizia tra i popoli. In essi si riflette un barlume di quella bellezza che ci fa quasi pregustare uno splendore inafferrabile che proietta la terra verso il Cielo; nelle opere degne, frutto dell’abilità dell’uomo, infatti, può rendersi visibile una eterea magnificenza che gli è stata donata dal suo Signore e Creatore Onnipotente. Nella convinzione che il vostro impegno possa produrre nuove energie nel vitale settore del volontariato per l’amicizia tra i popoli, auguro a tutti buon lavoro.

 Through the Professor Vasiliki Bafataki, Secretary General of the International Award "Giuseppe Sciacca," I extend my most cordial greetings to the organizers and participants to the general cultural event that is taking place in the noble city of Athens by the Association for Friendship between the Nations. The themes and goals that underlie such an extraordinary compendium of Symposium symbolically the essential features of what it should facilitate the mutual support of people building of a society oriented to the common good: to draw from history, art and culture of those strengths that converge in the realization of a coexistence Pacific extended universal scope. The International Prize "Giuseppe Sciacca" intended to sponsor this event in the belief that art, music, folk traditions and volunteering - if animated by healthy intentions - are in moving vehicles preferential positive ideas that achieve real sharing and bridges friendship among peoples. Is reflected in them a glimpse of that beauty that makes us a foretaste of almost untouchable that projects the earth to heaven; worthy works, the result of the ability of man, in fact, may make visible an ethereal grandeur that was donated by his Lord and Creator Almighty. In the belief that your efforts can produce new energy in the vital sector of the volunteer for Friendship among Peoples, I wish all good work.
